Is my photo uploaded when I remove the background or blur faces?
No. Both run on AI models loaded entirely into your browser via WebAssembly -- your photo never leaves your device. The models themselves (a few hundred KB for face detection, tens of MB for background removal) download once on first use and are cached afterward, but those are generic files with nothing of yours in them.
How is upscaling different from just resizing bigger?
Resize stretches pixels, which gets blurrier the more you enlarge an image. Upscale runs an AI model trained to reconstruct plausible sharp detail instead, so the result looks noticeably crisper -- at a fixed 2x, and slower to process since it's real neural-network inference on every part of the image, not simple interpolation. It only works on images up to 800px per side, since running that model over a full-size camera photo would take far too long on-device -- Crop or Resize a larger photo down first.
Is denoise an AI model too?
No -- it's a median filter, a well-established image-processing technique that replaces each pixel with the middle value of its neighborhood, which removes speckle/grain while keeping edges sharp. It's not learned or AI-powered, just classic pixel math, which is also why it's fast enough to skip the download-a-model step entirely. Like Upscale, it's capped at 800px per side to keep it quick.
Does this remove the location and camera data from my photos?
Yes, automatically. Every export is re-encoded from scratch on a canvas, which never carries over the original EXIF metadata -- including GPS location -- so nothing extra leaves with the file.
Can I make a passport or ID photo?
Yes -- the Resize section has a passport-photo preset (413×531px, a standard 35×45mm print size), or set an exact size yourself and use the Crop section to frame the photo first.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Every conversion runs in your browser, on your own device. Your file is never sent to a server or stored anywhere but your device.
